Sat Clean Up - 18th June 22

Thanks to the 20 volunteers who stayed close to the heart of the village getting the place spruced up and ready for the summer festival tomorrow, the 19th. A little site was cleared and dug on the Beechpark green space for the planting of a memorial tree tomorrow.

Donations of plants were collected for our CTT stall for the festival. Lots were given by volunteers and individual donors. Also SuperValu Blanchardstown, LIDL Castleknock and John Regan (SV) were all very generous in giving plants for the event. Well done to Mags Condon, CTT who requested and collected this colourful bounty. Thanks to Sinead Fox, FCC Environmental Dept, for dropping off leaflets and giveaways for the stand.

Lots of other progress to report too:

  • The village chains were repaired and are looking good.

  • The 3-tier planters were refreshed with new summer flowers. CTT recycled the previous plants/flowers in other places around the village. Hanging flower baskets were also added to some poles.

  • New planting was added by FCC at the Ashtown roundabout - a lovely job!

  • A new solar powered bin was installed between Chrysalis and St Brigid's National School.

  • Our Conscious Cup campaign has taken off. Lo-Cal Castleknock, Butler's Pantry, Insomnia at Spar, Silver Spoon café, Circle K and Lo-Cal Phoenix Park have all joined the initiative. Great to see the posters in windows - and remember folks, bring your own recyclable cup if you're out for a coffee!

  • Some surplus traffic signs were removed at our request too - thanks FCC.
