A CTT team of seven, Carmel, Evelyn, Fiona, James, Margaret, Patricia and Siun took part in Global Action Plan Ireland’s (GAP) Climate Action Heroes challenge in 2024. GAP received news that their “Action for Community Transformation” ACT project under which they ran Climate Action Heroes had been nominated for an AONTAS STAR award.

In February of this year Castleknock Tidy Towns (CTT) was asked to join the GAP team as a “Voice of the participant” in Climate Action Heroes. Representing CTT, Patricia joined the GAP Team panel, advocating to the judges how Climate Action Heroes has influenced sustainability within CTT’s work and our personal lives.

GAP’s ACT project was shortlisted and CTT attended as a “Voice of the participant” at the AONTAS STAR Awards in Croke Park on the 7th March. GAP’s ACT project - Climate Action Heroes was recognised as a finalist, one of 24 shortlisted teams out of 124 entries nationwide for its contribution to Global Citizen Education.

A huge congratulations to the “Voter Education Program”, Dublin Adult Learning Centre, the well-deserved winner in the Global Citizenship Education category.

A truly inspirational event highlighted how personal power, community groups and local action together can shape the world we live in. GAP’s CEO Hans Zomer deeply appreciated CTT’s teamwork in showcasing how using Climate Action Heroes has influenced small sustainable actions and can create a global impact.

Plant one seed and anything is possible. Together we shape the world we live in. 🌍

The awards were presented by AONTAS, QQI, Saolta SOLAS and the European Social Fund.
