Bin Switch Out

Castleknock's traditional black bins have all been switched out for the purple Fingal County Council Big Belly bins. These 'smart' bins contain a solar-powered compactor which means each bin can hold up to 60L of waste. They are built with a foot pedal (as well as a handle) which opens the depositor drawer so you don't even have to handle the bin to use it. The bin has a sensor which (using modern technology) advises a central location when the bin is almost full and needs emptying.

Hopefully we will see a further reduction in the litter around the village as a result of these new bins. Thanks FCC for making this investment.
