CTT's second Little Wild Gathering was held on Sunday 13th Oct on the green at Fairhaven.
Seven CTT volunteers were on hand for the one-hour session aimed at children accompanied by their parents/guardians. The educational activities, designed to promote sustainability and build biodiversity included:
Tree Feast - Feed the Trees: children had been encouraged to bring along a beach bucket and after a little discussion regarding the value of leaf mould, they carried enriched compost to the trees on the Fairhaven green.
Make Your Own Bug Hotel: this activity was taken very seriously by the young children who wanted to ensure the bugs of Castleknock had warm places to hide over the winter months.
Sensory boxes and a Treasure/Scavenger Hunt: added a real fun element to the day.
Finally, CTT rounded off the Little Wild gathering by gifting an apple tree to the residents of Fairhaven. Overall, it was a terrific morning with over 60 enthusiastic budding environmentalists in attendance.
